# About Us

A Peaceful Minecraft Community

Established in late 2017, mcGalaxy aims to provide players with the most player-centric, enjoyable, and intuitive gameplay by developing innovative mechanics, features, and experiences with a focus on communication.

All gamers understand the frustration of enjoying a great gaming experience only to have it fall short due to a lack of one particular feature, the existence of one particular bug, or even another troublesome individual within their game. Not only that, they often times deal with the staff team taking their time to respond, if at all.

We do not believe this should be the case. By keeping many open channels of communication with our player base, we actively seek out new features, bug patches, support tickets, and even player disputes in order to provide solutions in a timely manor.

We hope to create an enjoyable experience for all players involved!

## Minecraft

### What is it?

Minecraft is a sandbox game, in which you wander around the world, collecting resources and using items. To get an advantage, you need to master the control system. If you are having trouble with it, you may want to start a single player game with a peaceful mode world to practice.

### Combat

Surviving in Minecraft requires a knowledge of the game's combat mechanics. Without a tool in the player's hand, any attack deals 1 health point (♥) of damage.&#x20;

Tools in general do a lot more damage. Swords do make the best weapons, followed closely by axes. Pickaxes do less damage, and shovels do the least. Hitting a creature with a sword uses up 1 point of its durability, while using any other tool uses up 2 points of the tool's durability. When a creature is hit, it turns red for a half second, marking its "invulnerability period". A second attack in this time does no damage.

### Items and inventory

Picking a loose item up is as simple as walking over or near the item. To drop the item in your hand, use the "throw" key, which defaults to Q. The item gets tossed two or three blocks in the direction you are looking. In multiplayer, you can use this to give an item to another player — just throw the item toward them and they naturally pick it up.

#### Crafting

Also on your inventory screen is a 2×2 arrangement of squares. This is your inventory crafting grid. Here you can take some of the items you've collected and turn them into new items. Below the crafting grid is the Recipe Book icon, which provides assistance with remembering and using crafting recipes. **You do not actually need to use the Recipe Book**, but for a beginning player, it can be very helpful in finding out what your options are, and even for advanced players, it adds a bit of convenience. In general, you learn new recipes automatically when you pick up or craft a key item for the recipes in question.

## Your First Single Player Adventure

As the first day begins, you need to collect logs. First, you should look around for trees, and go toward any you find. Punch them until they break. You need to collect at least 5-8 logs for your first round of tools and items. The first thing to make is a crafting table, followed by a few sticks. The first tool you should craft is a wooden pickaxe. Crafting other wooden tools is not recommended, as you can quickly get cobblestone and make stone tools.

If any stone blocks are exposed close by, you can mine them with your new pickaxe to collect about 20 blocks of cobblestone. This is the amount you need to create every basic tool needed for a beginner. A stone sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel and a furnace. While you're doing this, keep an eye out for coal ore, and mine any you find. Depending on the position of the stone blocks, mining them might well make you a mini-cave to spend the night in, otherwise keep an eye out for possible places to live!

Once you have found a place to live, we recommend you get a stone axe, and try to get more logs as time allows. Extra logs are useful in many ways, such as building, crafting, securing your base and much more. If you have difficulty finding coal, you definitely want an extra dozen or more logs to burn or make charcoal! With coal or charcoal, you can also make torches for the night.

Now that you've gathered basic materials, found a safe location to live, and equipped yourself with useful tools, it's time to begin exploring!

On servers, commands are offered which allow players to access helpful & fun features! A great example is the `/Sethome` command which saves a location such as a home which can then be teleported to at anytime!


# Server Rules

The official rules list for our community's Minecraft server.

### Respect Staff & the Community

Do not disrespect staff members, undermine their authority, or attempt to damage the integrity of the community or server.

### No Harassment or Hate

Trolling, harassment, bullying, discrimination, or hateful speech of any kind is strictly prohibited.

### No Theft or Player Harm

Stealing, scamming, doxxing, trapping, or intentionally killing other players is not allowed.

### No Unfair Advantages

Hacking, x-ray, duping, or using modified clients or modifications that provide unfair advantages is forbidden.

### Keep Chat Clean

No spamming, advertising, excessive swearing, or discussing sensitive/inappropriate topics (e.g., politics, religion).

### Respect Player Builds

Do not destroy, alter, or enter another player’s build without their explicit permission.

### No Exploits or Abuse

Do not misuse plugins, permissions, game mechanics, or exploit bugs within mcGalaxy or Minecraft.

### Appropriate Skins & Usernames

Offensive skins, usernames, nicknames, or builds are not permitted.

### Avoid Lag or Obstructive Builds

1x1 towers, obstructive structures, lava-based builds, or lag-producing farms/machines must be avoided unless they include a proper on/off switch.

### Do not exceed the use of 16 villagers in iron farms.

The use of more villages causes dramatic TPS and server performance loss. If exceeded, staff may remove the entire build.

### No Drama or Public PDA

Do not incite drama, arguments, or excessive public displays of affection. Use Discord for complaints or reports, and keep personal matters in private messages.

### Alternate Account Limits

A maximum of 5 alts is allowed per IP address. Only 2 accounts per IP may be online at the same time. Alts may not be used to gain additional rewards.

### Report Issues Properly

If you experience issues with staff or players, report them through the proper channels.

### No Religion-Based Discussion

Do not discuss, reference, or attempt to spread any religious beliefs, groups, or organizations within the server.


# FAQ

A list of frequently asked questions relating to our survival server.

## What type of server is mcGalaxy?

We are a semi-vanilla survival based server with a focus on bonus features. This means our core is traditional Minecraft gameplay. We have spent years adding & enhancing many features including quality of life additions such as home locations, warps, interaction animations, weather voting, sleeping speed based on online players, graves & /back, and kits. We've also introduced brand new functionalities like in our casino, player & admin shops, cosmetics, pets, projections, apocalypse mode, marriage system, and so much more!

## How do I protect my stuff?

There is no griefing, stealing, looting, raiding, or scamming allowed in our community. As such, we have introduced a very simple automatic virtual locking mechanic. Simply place a lockable block - that's it!

## Why are my anvils floating?

Due to how our protection system works, any protected blocks are immune to outside effects such as explosions or gravity. To enable gravity on your anvil, simple unprotect it!

## Is there land claiming?

On mcGalaxy, we've taken a strong stance against land claiming systems. This is due to their restrictive nature, which directly goes against everything Minecraft was created to be! Instead, we allow players to corrdinate with others in order to astablish boundries when needed. Otherwise; the sky's the limit for any creations you wish to construct! (Literally, lol.)

## Is PvP allowed?

Generally speaking, mcGalaxy was not designed to be a PvP server, however with the integration of our custom items & abilities, many have requested the ability to battle over the years. In the near future, we plan to introduce a controlled way to battle friends using our amazing custom items known as "Duels!" Keep an eye out on our official announcement locations for more info!

## Why can I fly sometimes, but not others?

Currently, only certain store ranks will have the /fly command unlocked. This being said, there are other methods by which you may obtain flight! Flight Tokens allow players to claim temporarily flight ability for a defined amount of time based on the tier of flight token used. These tokens can often time be won from various rewards including the casino, voting, drop parties, and more!

Each Friday, we host a "Free Fly Friday" event which automatically enables flight for all players who login during the 24 hour period of Friday each week. (Based on EST timezone)

## What is Stardust?

Stardust is our premium currency! Many vendors around constellation city will gladly accept it due to it's seemingly magical ability. When consumed in the form of nuggets, this substance grants the user a brief moment of energy & healing properties. In it's full crystalized form, stardust is a natural energy source, leaving many to witness strange happenings, and even "miracles" surrounding the substance.

# Commands

All features offered to every player.

### `/Spawn`

Returns you directly to the spawn world, where you are safe from monsters. You may also checkout the various cosmetic & item shops, informational areas, and easter eggs located in the area!

### `/Menu`

Opens our main menu. From here, you may easily browse the various options relating to your profile, location, statistics, & the various features our server has to offer!

### `/Profile`

Brings up a detailed menu showing personal player statistics, unlocks, & more!

### `/Back`

If you have died, or accidentally teleported to the wrong place, you may instantly return to the previous location. This is useful for reclaiming lost items or even locations.

### `/Sethome <Home Name>`

Creating homes is one of the most universal and helpful aspects of playing multiplayer Minecraft in our opinion! Due to this fact, we grant all players a minimum of 3 home locations which can be accessed at anytime.

`<Home Name>` can be replace with any word you'd like to help you remember what each location is!

### `/Removehome <Home Name>`

Used to remove a home of the user's choice.

**This cannot be undone.** While a staff member may be able to locate the area the home was previously in, this is not a guarantee.

### `/Home`

Access any previously set homes. Use this menu to instantly return to any of them!

### `/Tpa <playerName>`

Sends a teleportation request to the target player. If accepted, you will be teleported to their location after a brief cooldown.

### `/Tpaccept`

Used to accept a teleportation request if received. A prompt in chat will show up each time one is sent.

Alternatively, a checkmark will appear in chat which you may simply click on in order to automatically accept a teleportation request.

### `/Tpdeny`

Used to deny a teleportation request if received. This will alert the player who requested to teleport to you.

### `/TpToggle`

Disables the ability to receive teleportation requests. Useful if you'd like to be left alone. :-)

### `/Msg <playerName> <message>`

Sends another user a private message. These messages will only be visable between you, and the target player.

### `/Mail <send/clear/read>  <playerName> <message>`

Used to send private mail similar to an email within the server to another player. These messages will be readable even if the player is offline when they return.

### `/Warp`

Opens a menu which allows the player to select a server location to teleport to.

You may also use `/Warp <Warp name>` if you know the name of the location you'd like to teleport to directly.

### `/Kit`

Opens a menu which allows the player to select an unlocked kit. Locked kits may also be previewed with a right-click.

### `/Dispose`

Opens a virtual trash bin where items may be destroyed. Useful for getting rid of unwanted clutter.

### `/Condense`

Condenses stackable items into a more space-friendly form. *Example: Turn iron ingots into iron blocks.*

### `/Uncondense`

Reverses the process of condensing items. *Example: Turn iron blocks into iron ingots.*

### `/List`

Lists all online players.

### `/Ping`

Responds with your current ping.

Ping is the calculation of a packet sent to the server, then returned. As such, **a lower ping = a better connection.** This value is dependent on your internet connection, location, and other variables outside of our control.

### `/Realname <playerName>`

Used to determine another player's username if a nickname is being used.

### `/Point`

Uses particles to highlight a block which the player is looking at. Useful to visually inform another player  of a certain location.

### `/Recipe <itemName>`

Displays the crafting recipe needed to create the target item.

### `/Near`

Displays all users within a certain block radius of the player.

### `/Seen <playerName>`

Displays the last known online time of the target player.

### `/Itemtimer`

Toggles the despawn timer above dropped items

# Lunar Pass

A challenge based rewards system.

The Lunar Pass is a system that offers players rewards for playing and completing challenges during a 2-month period of time called a "Season".

There are 2 types of passes available, free and premium. The premium pass may be purchased in our [donation store](https://donate.mcGalaxy.co).

## Progression & Rewards

While playing, you will receive <mark style="color:yellow;">Stars</mark>. You gain <mark style="color:yellow;">stars</mark> by completing challenges, claiming special rewards, and even completing easter eggs. By accumulating <mark style="color:yellow;">10 Stars</mark>, you gain 1 Lunar Pass Tier that will then unlock the rewards set for that tier.

# Custom Mechanics

## Baby Iron Golems

These little guys will spawn with their parent adult iron golem. They tend to stick pretty close by, but will occationally wander off. They are a passive mob, getting scared when hurt by any attackers.

Every so often they'll gain the courage to stand up to their foe by striking them once, but this is short lived as they will quickly retreat to cover.


# Player Shops

Player shops allow you to create your very own shop!

Often times paired with a nice player warp (Coming soon), shops are often times a wonderful source of income. Fellow crafters are able to visit your shop, purchase goods from your store, and even sell items to you at any time depending on how your store is constructed!

### Creating a shop

↠ To begin creating your first shop, simply hold the item or stack of items you'd like to sell. Be sure to look at the chest you'd like to turn into a shop, and run the command:

### `/Shop Create <Price>`

Replace the `<Price>` placeholder with the amount you'd like to charge.

Example for a $5 shop: `/Shop create 5`

### `/Shop remove`

↠ Will remove the shop you are currently looking at.

### `/Shop price <price>`

↠ Allows you to change a shop's price! Be sure you are looking at the shop you'd like to edit.

### `/Shop [buy or sell]`

↠ Allows you to convert a shop to purchase good, or sell goods.\
✔️ Shops which are "Selling goods" allow players to purchase from them.\
✔️ Shops which are "Buying goods" allow players to sell items to them!

### `/Shop refill`

↠ Allows you restock a shop with the item(s) or block(s) you are currently holding. A chat prompt will appear asking how many items you'd like to restock. Simply enter the number in chat!

Creating a player warp has many benifits & uses! Ranging from shop locations, to player created experiences like parkours, escape rooms, public farms and more!

> Rent a new player warp. "\<warp\_name>" should be replaced with your desired warp name.

# Ranks

Roles? Ranks? What's the difference?!

Ranks allow users to unlock roles by leveling up! To gain experience, simply be an active member of our discord. Chatting and sharing images are two ways you may gain experience! Be careful! Spamming will not reward XP, and will result in punishments.

While ranks to not provide any extra benefits, they act more as a status symbol for our community. Once earned, ranks will change the color of a user's username within the Discord server.

<mark style="color:red;">Note:</mark> Roles which surpass ranks, such as staff roles, will override ranks.

We recommend use of the <mark style="color:blue;">#bot-commands</mark> channel for any bot commands.

# Partner Requirements

User created content is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable parts of any community! As such, we have officially launched our very own partnership program!

**Prerequisites**\
1\. Minimum of 250 followers (Twitch) or 250 subscribers (Youtube)\
2\. Typical streams/videos must not be overly vulgar in nature.\
3\. Minimum of 1 Minecraft related stream per week, or 1 video per month. (Galaxy related stream once partnered.)\
4\. Potential partners must not have been banned, tempbanned, or jailed on Galaxy.\
5\. Potential partners must be active members of Galaxy's community.\

**Expectations**\
**You:** will clearly display somewhere on your channel / page our community's logo, which must link to our website.\
**We:** will automatically post in our Discord each time you go live or post a new video!\
\
**You:** will promote select content provided prior to certain streams or videos. (New features, announcements, and more!)\
**We:** will provide unique / exclusive content for your channel / page only! (New features, Announcements, sneak peaks, server funded giveaways, random challenges with global rewards and more!)
